What is the Lights On Girls Leadership Cohort?
The Lights On Girls Leadership Cohort is tailored for middle school girls ages 11-13 to develop essential leadership skills, confidence, and a passion for creating a positive impact in their communities. High school students have the opportunity to volunteer as leaders, offering mentorship to younger participants while gaining leadership experience and earning community service hours.
This 4-month commitment includes both in-person and virtual sessions, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging experience for all participants. Through hands-on activities, mentorship, and community projects, girls will grow into confident, impactful leaders.
How Much Does the Program Cost and How Can You Apply?
- Cost: $150 for the full 4-month program, covering all expenses, materials, and events.
- Application Fee: A $25 non-refundable application fee is required upon applying. If the applicant is not accepted, the fee will be refunded.
- Final Payment Deadline: Full payment must be completed by February 1, 2025.

What Is the Lights On Girls Leadership Program All About?
The Lights On Girls Leadership Program is designed to empower middle and high school girls in Broward County to become confident, effective leaders. Utilizing the iLead curriculum, developed by renowned leadership expert Dr. John C. Maxwell, the program teaches participants how to lead with integrity, take initiative, and positively influence their peers and communities.
Through structured learning, mentorship, and practical leadership opportunities, participants will develop the skills and mindset to make meaningful contributions both now and in the future.

Leadership Talks & Mentorship
The Lights On Girls Leadership Program features a robust mentorship component where each participant is paired with a seasoned professional who provides guidance, support, and real-world advice to help navigate their leadership journey. Additionally, our Leadership Talk series invites inspiring women leaders from various fields to share their experiences and insights, empowering the next generation of female leaders. These talks not only highlight the paths paved by these accomplished women but also inspire participants to envision their own leadership potential and the impact they can make in their communities.
Community Projects
Students will have opportunities to apply their leadership skills by leading community projects. These projects not only provide practical experience but also make a tangible impact in the community.
What is the ilead curriculum?
​iLead is John Maxwell’s values-based leadership development designed specifically for students. It combines John’s proven content with a peer-to-peer process that allows students to practice leadership as they are learning it.
There is no charge to access the iLead material. The curriculum is not included in the co-hort fee.
Digital Badges and Certificates
Upon successful completion of different stages of the program, participants receive digital badges and certificates that can be used to enhance their resumes and college applications.
Application Process
To join our Leadership Program, applicants must submit an online application form, which includes personal details, and a reference letter. Applicants may also be invited to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
